This is why I love Fake Steve Jobs.  →
This one is a vintage offering of Fake Steve goodness. The thing that’s so great though about the way he writes most of the time, is that it’s mostly based in fact. Microsoft’s number DO suck. Vista sucks even more (seriously, it’s torture). The next Windows is 2 years+ away. And Apple is flush with cash and on perhaps the greatest hot streak in the history of modern...

Still Loving Safari →
I posted this a while back, but I just stumbled across it again and updated it a tiny bit. Just thought I’d re-post the link. Shows off how awesome Safari is. Especially if you’re by chance viewing this in Windows. I beg you, GO GET SAFARI. I really think you’ll thank me.

SafariStand's Clip Web Archive = Brilliant. →
Anyone who is on the web a lot and who uses Safari — go get this plugin right now. It’s always been good, but I just discovered a new feature in the new version that is really really cool. It’s called “Clip Web Archive”. (For anyone who’s not familar with how Safari makes “web archives” in general, the basic idea is that you can save off a whole...

Speaking of wine...
Waters Winery is another great winery in Walla Walla, that also has a good website, and that is owned and run by some really great people. I actually shot some imagery for them last fall. (Many, not all, of the images on their website are mine.) Check them out.  I love wine. And I love that I currently live close to a really cool wine region. I need to get down there more often.

The Magnificent Wine Co. →
This wine is great. I really like their website too. And the guy that owns it is cool.  By the way, the Walla Walla and Columbia valleys (which are just 2.5 hrs. from where I live) are two of the greatest wine regions in the world (literally). And Walla Walla is also a pretty rad little town. Check it out if you’re ever in the area.

How to Do It [the photo biz] Without Ruining It... →
This is a fantastic post by John Harrington about how to be a not-quite-full-time professional photographer…and not suck. Very very good info.  I’m baffled almost constantly by what I observe in this area. Young, eager photographers (like myself) charging literally next-to-nothing just to “get their foot in the door”. Hey, I’m not putting on airs—I’ve done...

…by me! Huh? I happened to be looking at my Google Analytics tonight and couldn’t figure out why I had so many hits coming from “blog.photoshelter.com” on an obscure post I made the other day about being in a “photographic slump”. Well, after a little digging, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I had be the subject of a post there on their “A...

Thank you, Google.
I just realized that Google would still have a cached version of my Tumblr homepage! YESS!!! I’ll still need to rebuild it, at least as far as the Tumblr custom tags are concerned, but the CSS and the main framework is all there. Whew! Crisis averted.  (…although…truth be told, I was a teensy bit glad at the idea of having to come up with a new look…although, I really just...

Aw CRAP.
I just accidentally deleted my custom Tumblr theme. I’m an idiot. And no, I don’t think I had it backed up somewhere (stupidly). This sucks. Sorry for the “standard” theme, those of you that actually may be viewing this outside the dashboard.

Like Guitar Hero…only classier…and like a roller coaster… I wonder if people in 50 or 60 years will actually read music like this…(strait ahead and moving instead of left to right linear) it makes sense if you think about it. Well, ok, it has some major drawbacks, but you never know.

I'm in a photographic slump.
I need to find a way to break out of it. I have just not been inspired lately photographically. Strange, because I was blazing just a couple months ago. I need to rekindle the juices. Thoughts/suggestions are welcome.

Good Muxtape news.
muxtape: On the settings page you can now specify a custom title and caption for your muxtape. Some mixes need a little context and this is a great place for some liner notes (they’ll also show up in RSS). There’s also been lots of little bug fixes across the site; ampersands and unicode should work perfectly in the organizer and all custom fields, for one.

Dodge and Burn in Aperture 2.1=
Awesome. I LOVE it. I’m actually quite surprised at how good it is. With one or two more great plugins like this, I’ll never have to use photoshop for “photos” again. Aperture is getting better all the time.
