Where is the Tumblr iPhone app?
(Even though it’s almost unnecessary because the web app works just great on the iPhone.) The real gain would be in the overall EASE involved, and in being able to make posts instantly and then have them uploaded later vs. having to load the website first. Audio record/upload, image upload of course, and some nice ways of tagging, sorting, finding… and group management would all be...

Where to Put Other Punctuation Ending a Quote... →
Well then… I hereby adopt the “British Style”. (<— see!) If the American style is stupid and illogical, why should I use it? I’m so glad to have this cleared up. I’m just going with the rest of the world on this one.    (btw, the linked page above was highlighted with The Awesome Highlighter, which I find pretty darn handy.)

For the Scrabble-lovers out there. If you’re playing Scrabble on your iPhone and you want to contribute to this group, email me at ben at bdelaney dot com and I’ll invite you to the group.  Yes, it’s geeky. But it’s going to help me win more at Scrabble. And that’s what counts. ;-)

Screen Resolutions... some good news...
Good news for me at least. I just noticed that about 85% of the visitors to my various websites were using screen resolutions HIGHER than 1024x768. In fact, the most popular was 1280x800.  Now, clearly, the people I’m getting are almost certainly NOT the average soccer moms of the world—so these stats are very skewed by a certain demographic. But still, it’s really great to know...

Americans Are Too Stupid for Satire: The Proof →
I think they are right. I mean, while I do think the whole Obama cover was a shameless attention-grab by The New Yorker (almost embarrassingly so), it is obviously satirical. It should be a shoulder-shrugging event, not a vote-changer.

My Thoughts on MobileMe.
After a few brief hiccups on the first day of the new MobileMe service from Apple, I am so far thoroughly impressed with it. The push syncing works great, and already seems more reliable than the old .Mac sync. Time will tell if it’s truly stable, but I’ve got high hopes. The web apps at me.com are really where I think this new services shines. After using them for just a few days, I...

MaryAnn: We have a 2 mormons, 1Jew, and 2 christians all sitting in the living room watching Prince of egypt
Ben: ??? who?
MaryAnn: Amia, Myles, Aydan, Ian, and Eli.
Amia is explaining everything in detail....
Now they are arguing whether or not Moses is the prince and a Christian....
According to Amia he is a prince and a Christian.
Ben: Multi-religion cartoon watching. Awesome.
(I'm not sure any of them actually qualify as true followers of those religions... don't you have to be, oh, say, older than 5? : -)

I’m pissed. Bummer. Guess I should have given you that standalone 2.0 installer that I got yesterday that worked perfectly!! woo hoo! iPhone 2.0 bliss! ;-) ;-) That does suck though. A New Haircut Pricing Model
I wrote this post last year, after I had an epiphany one day while getting my hair cut. I’m posting it again, because I think it’s a great idea and my old blog is toast. Bear with me… In most cases, getting a haircut is a joyous occasion. I think most people would agree that, when it’s done right, it is very much like therapy. It gives you a sense of peace, confidence, and...

Jott for iPhone, and in general. →
If you haven’t heard of or used Jott yet, you should check it out. Especially if you’re an iPhone owner. Not only is Jott already a really GREAT way to keep track of todo’s and reminders (along with a BUNCH of other cool things like sending voice “jotts” to your friends via email/SMS, posting to websites like Twitter simply by talking, etc, etc.), but their iPhone app...

Tumblr is trying to deafen me.
Man, I wish the Tumblr audio player had a volume control. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve casually hit “play,” only to suddenly find that I’ve ripped my headphones off of my ears in a panic-induced rage after being attacked by the loudness. I mean, really, is a volume control THAT hard? My Mac system volume was at 50%. Not exactly deafness-causing for all other...

Tumblr Tip: Gmaps as "videos"
Just realized (with my last post), that you can put Google Maps inside the “video” entries in Tumblr. Works fine. I suppose you could put them in regular text posts too, but I thought it was worth sharing.

“Tennis fans caused a massive surge in electricity demand after Nadal took the Wimbledon title because they were glued to their seats during the epic match. A 1,400 megawatt spike - equivalent to 550,000 kettles being boiled - was recorded at around 9.20pm, as the Spaniard lifted the trophy. The surge shows millions watched the match. It was bigger than the increase in demand at half time...
