Two GREAT iPhone Photo Apps →
…discussed in this article. I agree with him. I just grabbed both of them. TiltShift Generator and Mill Colour. They are instantly my new favorites. SO much more control than the other ones that just apply pre-defined styles without any real nuance.

Thoughts on The Reader
Just finished watching The Reader (which I reluctantly put on, expecting to fall asleep, disinterested.)
Two thoughts: 1) It’s a phenomenal movie. Powerful and brilliant on many levels. And, 2) It really saddens me how Hollywood advertisers portray films a certain way just to attempt to make more money. This movie is absolutely NOT what I half-expected from the trailers, posters, and DVD...
Today...
I really just want to sit in a café. And read a book. All day.

And since I'm on the topic...
I’m convinced that application branding and iconography are far more critical for apps on the iPhone than on any other platfom. It’s the #1 point of connection you have with any app. That’s why I’ll most likely eventually delete the app I just reviewed (“Tumble Gear”)—the icon is just too horrible. I would never want it tarnishing my home screen. :)

Speaking of Tumblr iPhone apps...
I really wish Tumblr would change the icon on the official Tumblr app. It’s starting to feel dated. Kind of like an early 2000’s Volkswagon Jetta. Cool for it’s time, but past it’s prime. That thick chrome rim and the corny dotted background. I think it’s time to get it up to snuff with the cleaner, crisper, more refined look the web interfaces are taking on.

"Tumblr Gear" iPhone App →
This Tumblr app on the iPhone is suprisingly nice (despite the absolutely atrocious icon and the horrible name). For simply viewing your dashboard, and quickly and easily “liking” or reblogging posts, I think it’s a more pleasant and “quick” feeling experience than the official Tumblr app.
Because you tap through posts one by one, and can even play them sequentially...
Petrichor →
manalive:

Petrichor (from Greek petros “stone” + ichor “the fluid that is supposed to flow in the veins of the gods in Greek mythology”) is the name of the scent of rain on dry earth. The term was coined in 1964 by two Australian researchers, Bear and Thomas, for an article in the journal Nature. (via Ron Strelecki)
I love this!

Photoshop.com (w/ iPhone app) →
I have to say (and I’m honestly shocked to hear myself say it…), but this is a really nice site/system. And frankly, the iPhone app they just released is actually really great. If they keep building on it and give it a bit more in the way of adjustments and filters (contrast, sharpening, vignette, etc. come to mind)… it will be THE photo editing tool for me on the iPhone....

Word to the wise: never release a Tumblr theme into the wild that you just finished redesigning during an insomniac all-nighter. Dumb. Test test test instead…then release it. :)
