Finally released last week, representing a long-term rehaul of the previous version with nearly zero backward compatibility. MooTools is the Javascript framework I imposed upon Vimeo and stills remains my favorite. While I was building Muxtape I tested Prototype/script.aculo.us, jQuery, and YUI but kept coming back to Moo. To me it feels very lightweight but never underpowered, and I just like its concise coding style better than the others.
I couldn’t agree more. I did the same thing—“impose” MooTools on my new company for a very large project we’re working on. At first, it took a little prodding, but now they’re thanking me. It’s just a great framework. For certain things, the learning curve can be a little steep—mainly because it’s not made for beginners. They expect you to know how to make your own stuff. But overall, working with it is quick, easy, efficient, and very powerful.
