I’m convinced that application branding and iconography are far more critical for apps on the iPhone than on any other platfom. It’s the #1 point of connection you have with any app. That’s why I’ll most likely eventually delete the app I just reviewed (“Tumble Gear”)—the icon is just too horrible. I would never want it tarnishing my home screen. :)

Unless it is just overwhelmingly useful and well done in every other category, I think a good icon can make or break an iPhone app.
